Dear Editor, In reading last issue's article "Gay at Messiah: Part I" I was very excited for this topic to be acknowledged and for sincere conversation to be had on campus. As one of Messiah's homosexual students, Executive Secretary of S.G.A. and as a senior I've looked forward to hearing the college community really discuss this subject in a manner of Christian conduct. Letter to the editor: I would like to express my gratitude to the Swinging Bridge staff for publishing the recent article, "Gay at Messiah." Although the article has sparked controversy, and perhaps even anger, I believe its message is very relevant to many students. (0) comments

It is official: the votes have been cast, the ballots have been counted, and Barack Obama will be the president of the United States for the next four years. The future looks bleak for those who hold true to conservative values. In the weeks following the election, many disheartened Republicans have been forced to come to the reality that the most radical, liberal member of the U. (0) comments

Consider me a converted post-vegetarian. Of course, post in this case connotes something more akin to beyond vegetarian rather than simply former vegetarian. Eighteen months of meatless nirvana--filled with other people's endless probing of my lifestyle choice--has taken a butcher's-knife toll on my patience reserves, not to mention my original rationales for passing on meat. I'll admit it-I've lied, been disrespectful to my parents, taken the Lord's name in vain, used foul language, and at the tender age of six, I even stole a pen from Sam's Club. He also did a fine job summing up some of the issues that LGBT students on Messiah's campus face. That being said, my experience with the administration has been vastly different than Gavin Paul's. In my 25 year career as a faculty member (a professor of communication and student newspaper advisor) and college administrator I have elected never to comment on an article published in a student newspaper. But the lack of responsible reporting, editing, and journalistic judgment that was displayed with the Nov. (8) comments

There's been a lot of talk around campus in the last few weeks about Messiah's policy and practice regarding homosexuality. I just have one thing to say to all parties involved in this conversation: stop talking about it! That means you, Tim Mackie. This is one conversation Messiah College simply cannot afford to have. When Barack Obama won the Presidential election on November 4th, it was not only his fans in Grant Park or his national supporters who celebrated his victory. Much of the international community rejoiced as well. Only several countries seemed to favor McCain, according to both the New York Times and The Economist World Poll. (0) comments

As an Obama supporter, the issue of abortion came up quite frequently in conversation during the weeks leading up to the election. As a Christian and a student of Politics, it is an issue I have given a great deal of thought to, and would like to present my view. (0) comments
