Changeling Clint Eastwood's grim, gristly tale of 1930s L.A.-complete with corruption, crime, and the criminally insane-could have been an engrossing, intricately detailed thriller in the tradition of L.A. Confidential or even Chinatown. Instead, it manages to ramble through its intentionally paced 142 minutes to conclude with one of the most banal clichés in the history of filmmaking. (5) comments
